The much anticipated EU summit ended this week with some fairly broad (excluding Britain) and unilateral support for reworking the original Lisbon treaty. The markets were heartened by the smiles of the EU members following the summit and rewarded them with erasing much of the previous day’s losses.

From a cycle’s perspective, the setup is not perfect, but certainly very favorable to the point where it’s worth taking a good stab at it. The main deterrent here is that the daily cycle is rather young at 9 days. Although there are cases of equity cycles topping this early, it is not that common.

These are unusual times my friends and one must be extremely cautious and guarded. What the 2008 event should have taught you was to expect the worst and that no outcome is out of scope or beyond reach. Black swans are not as infrequent as they would like you to believe and when there is one black swan, there may be a flock.
