These are unusual times my friends and one must be extremely cautious and guarded. What the 2008 event should have taught you was to expect the worst and that no outcome is out of scope or beyond reach. Black swans are not as infrequent as they would like you to believe and when there is one black swan, there may be a flock.

Remember when we only cared about Greece and solving Greece would be a return to business as usual. The financial crisis in Europe is heating up as rapidly as the proudly erected EFSF firewall around Greece is being burned down. Contagion has spread much quicker

But I’m also cognizant of an alternative setup that could be very costly to a portfolio that is heavily and stubbornly invested long. For this reason, I cashed in my gains for the current cycle and will be reevaluating my trading strategy to incorporate both scenarios.

To say this week was exciting would be a major understatement. Besides the historic action in equities, the major highlight was our call to aggressively reenter gold positions. What a difference a week can make.
