The best confirmation of our framework is actually coming from the miners. In spite of a Dollar headwind and an Equity market in decline, the miners have managed to continue their move higher out of their recent channel breakout. The technical oscillators have all turned bullish, and if we can find some momentum with the gold spot price along with some strength in the equity markets, we should see a sizable rally unfold within very short order. The strength shown by the Dollar never ceases to amaze me, but now it’s taking on parabolic like structure that could end quickly and sharply. Fueled primarily from the Euro’s weakness, it managed to cross yet another milestone today. This dollar strength is not based on speculative action, the strength is a serious defensive move on a massive scale, very large institutional capital flows are occurring towards perceived safety and it’s driving the dollar and the bond markets to extreme overbought areas. Smart money is scrambling ahead of the coming stampede; they know when it’s time to seek protection.
