So when you start formulating those New Year’s resolution plans, do yourself a favor and add a couple of investing related goals to that list. Here is just a small sample of goals that I have developed over the years; they now make up part of my personal wealth plan. Maybe some could help you: Continue reading

I read a statistic today that said 31 of the past 41 holiday periods produced a significant “Santa Rally”. However for the 10 that did not, the following year produced sub-par returns, and the worst bear market years were included in that group. I didn’t know this going into the period, but I was acutely aware that I should not be afraid to short into a traditionally strong holiday period Continue reading

The slight break of the resistance line is not a factor, as the trade was not taken based on that line. What we’re focused on is the age of the cycles (Bearish) and the declining high’s (A,B Tops) and half cycle lows. As long as the SPX stays below 1,267, that observation holds ground and this Daily Cycle Continue reading

I’ve moved the Daily Cycle count into neutral outlook, and by late next week it will be sitting on a bearish outlook. Next week, the Investor Cycle will be on week 12, and it too will move into the Bearish column, giving us a “Connect Four winner” of bearish outlooks. As the dollar rockets higher, pressure is being placed on equities here, but in light of the dollar move, equities have managed to keep the damage in check. The VIX has not seemed all that concerned too, which leads me to believe that this is an early move down into a half cycle low, which will soon be reversed. Continue reading

The much anticipated EU summit ended this week with some fairly broad (excluding Britain) and unilateral support for reworking the original Lisbon treaty. The markets were heartened by the smiles of the EU members following the summit and rewarded them with erasing much of the previous day’s losses. Continue reading

From a cycle’s perspective, the setup is not perfect, but certainly very favorable to the point where it’s worth taking a good stab at it. The main deterrent here is that the daily cycle is rather young at 9 days. Although there are cases of equity cycles topping this early, it is not that common. Continue reading

What a week, just when we thought winter was setting upon the markets, out pops a ray of sunshine, and the world was saved. Those wise central bank Maestro’s did it again. Who would have thought that dropping an interbank swap rate was all that was lacking this entire year. Continue reading
